Prof Philip Morris is qualified in psychiatry & addiction medicine

Prof Morris is Executive Director of the Australian and New Zealand Mental Health Association. He is Medical Director of the Gold Coast Memory Clinic, a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) and a Fellow of the Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine (FAChAM) of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He has a private psychiatric practice at Southport. He is a senior medical advisor to the Australian Department of Veterans' Affairs and has an academic appointment at Bond University Medical School.

Dr. Sonu Haikerwal is the co-owner and Principal General Practitioner at the Haan Health Medical Centre and enjoys offering thorough medicine to her patients. Sonu has a wealth of experience in health and general practice and is comfortable dealing with complex health problems. Dr. Haikerwal was a partner in a Practice is South West England and moved to Australia with her husband and sons to be closer to her husband’s family. Dr Sonu Haikerwal graduated from the prestigious AIIMS College in New Delhi, India and worked in both Australia and UK before completing her Physicians training in London and obtaining her MRCP. Dr. Haikerwal completed training and further qualifications in Obstetrics and Gynaecology gaining her DRCOG, she also completed training in Family Planning. As Dr. Sonu enjoys all aspects of health so she decided to train as a General Practitioner completing her MRCGP from London and upon returning to Australia gained her FRACGP.

Maria is an IMG who completed her medical degree in the Philippines, finishing her residency in Family and Community Medicine at UP-PGH, serving an extra year as Chief Resident. She migrated to Australia in December 2005 and has been working as a GP since then on the Gold Coast. Maria is also an active member of the RACGP Qld Faculty Education Committee and serves as an Examiner for the College. In her free time, she enjoys being a taxi-mum to her 2 young kids.

Geoff Adsett MBBS, BSc (Hons) is a GP with a special interest in Primary Care Cardiology. He has practiced for the past 15 years at Cardiac Dynamics Mermaid Beach. Another interest is in Aviation Medicine as a CASA Medical Examiner. Geoff is past-president of the GCMA and has also been a past local area representative for AMA Queensland. His special cardiological interest is a technological approach to CV risk management, in particular, hypertension management. Otherwise he'd rather be fishing, surfing or golfing.

Dip Cytopathology Professor of Pathology Bond University from 2007 Director Anatomical Pathology GCUH. Advisor to Queensland Fertility Group. Research interests: breast, gynaecological and prostate pathology. Interests in cytopathology. Recently involved in the renewal of Cervical Cancer Prevention Program and Quality and Safety committee member.

Kat was born and raised in rural New Zealand studying Medicine at the University of Otago. She has worked in a diverse range of settings in both Australia and New Zealand and holds fellowships of both the RNZCGP and the RACGP.  Kat moved to the Gold Coast in 2011 and is currently practicing at Eastbrooke Family Clinic in Burleigh Waters.  Kat also teaches at Bond University where she is an assistant professor of Medicine.  Kat has a particular interest in communication and safety in healthcare. She is a Faculty Member of the RACGP QLD Board and an administrator of the GPs Down Under group.

Ophthalmologist at Gold Coast Eye Clinic, Southport

Dr Kearney is the founding principal of the Gold Coast Eye Clinic which began in 1984.  He is participating in the development of both Griffith and Bond University Medical Schools where he is Clinical Associate Professor.  Since graduating from the University of Melbourne with honours in surgery, leading ophthalmologist Dr John Kearney has worked extensively throughout Australia and overseas. In addition to the specialist services he provides at the Gold Coast Eye Clinic, Dr Kearney is committed to helping patients in disadvantaged and third world communities.  As a member of the Mercy Ships and the Pacific Island Projects, he has travelled extensively performing cataract and other surgery, giving lectures and assisting with skills transfers. Additionally, he has worked with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health services on the Gold Coast and Western Queensland.  He has also worked in the Northern Territory as part of the National Trachoma and Eye Health Program established by Dr Fred Hollows.  He has taken part in the Dili (East Timor) Eye Clinic with the International Red Cross and World Health Organisation.  Away from the theatre, Dr Kearney enjoys his five children, sailing and ballroom dancing with his wife Elena.
