GCMA Samoan Medical Conference - 29-30 September 2023

The Gold Coast Medical Association and the Oceania University of Medicine, the Samoan Medical Association, the National University of Samoa Medical School, and the Samoan Ministry of Health will host a medical conference in Apia, Samoa on 29-30 September 2023 at the Taumeasina Resort Hotel.  The meeting is supported by Griffith and Bond Universities.  All medical and health professionals are welcome to participate. We are excited to announce, A/Prof Rhea Liang will be presenting to the GCMA this monrth.

A/Prof Rhea Liang (MBChB, BA(Ed), MSurgEd, FRACS, FACS, FFSTEd) is a general and breast surgeon, surgical educator, diversity advocate and Clinical Sub Dean at Bond University. Her research interests are in breast cancer care, and diversity issues.

GCMA Clinical Evening Meeting February 2020

Join us at our next GCMA clinical meeting in February!

GCMA's first clinical evening meeting of 2020 will host two presentations based around adolescent health.

Paediatricians Dr Susan Moloney & Dr Penny Larcombe will be speaking about the Adolescent & Young Adult Medicine model at the Gold Coast University Hospital, followed by Psychiatrist Dr Wai Ling Choi who will discuss Gender Dysphoria.

Please join us for dinner & discussion, free for GCMA members. For other interested attendees, a subsidised fee of $30 is payable.

GCMA Clinical Evening Meeting November 2019

Thursday 21st November will be our last clinical meeting for 2019 and will be jointly presented by Icon Cancer Care & TMS Australia. 

Dr Michael Slancer & Dr Jim Jones from Icon Cancer Care will be presenting on the role of Immunotherapy in treating cancer, as well as sharing some interesting case studies. 

Dr Jeff Adams from TMS Australia will be presenting on outpatient r-TMS (repetitive Trans Cranial Magnetic Stimulation) treatment.

We are very much looking forward to both of these topics as a great way to finish off 2019.

GCMA Clinical Meeting July 2019 - "Male fertility control - the pill, vasectomy, and other methods"

This month's topic is "Male fertility control - the pill, vasectomy, and other methods" presented by Dr Justin Low.

Dr Justin Low MBBS FRACGP is the National Lead Vasectomy Doctor at Marie Stopes Australia. He trained in Sydney in No Scalpel Open Ended vasectomy in 2011 and has performed over 8000 vasectomies to date and has trained many surgeons in the organisation. He has presented both here and in the USA on various topics related to vasectomy.
